The Athletes Behind the Platform: Featuring Student-Athlete Ambassador, Eden Oje

The best people to explain the student-athlete journey are the ones living it right now. That belief is the whole reason the Prospect HQ Student Ambassador Program exists. Our ambassadors sit between our platform and the campuses we serve, and they bring honest stories about sport, school, and everything that comes after to the athletes asking the same questions they are.

The role is real work, and the experience shows it. Ambassadors build skills in career development, networking, and personal branding. They meet athletes across the country who are figuring out life after sport, and they get a close-up view of how a startup actually runs.

This series introduces the people behind that work. We want you to know who they are, what pushes them, and what they're picking up along the way.

Today, meet Eden.

Introducing Eden Oje

Tell us your name, school, sport, and graduation year.

Eden Oje, Cornell University, Track & Field, Class of 2029

What are your plans for the summer?

This summer, I'm interning at a sports medicine clinic, volunteering at a summer camp for over 100 Igbo children, shadowing physicians, and preparing for my sophomore year.

How would your teammates describe you in three words?

Motivated, Charismatic, and Dedicated.

What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?

People are often surprised to learn that I applied to, was recruited by, and got into over 80 colleges in total.

What was your first job ever?

Helping my aunt with her interior design business when I was little.

What do you think you want to do after graduation, and how certain are you?

I know 10000% that I want to go to med school. The only thing I'm unsure of is whether or not I'll take gap years, and when I'll fit in my master's programs.

What is something about being a student-athlete people don't talk about enough?

How much internal motivation it takes to wake up and do what we do every day. Between balancing classes and our sport, jobs, campus involvement, and preparing for our future careers, there is so much we have to handle every day, and sometimes it can almost feel daunting.

What is one skill from sports that translates to the real world?

Adversity. It's one of the greatest lessons I've learned from sports, and it translates directly into the real world.

What made you want to become a Prospect HQ Student Ambassador?

Meeting Mr. Norwood at the Black Student Athlete Summit and talking about my hopes and aspirations showed me how valuable Prospect HQ could be. I could see not only how it could help me achieve my own goals beyond athletics, but also how it could open doors for so many other student-athletes.

What would you tell someone nervous to put themselves out there?

Life is going to keep passing by, whether you put yourself out there or not. Don't let your nervousness be the reason you look back years from now with regret, wishing you had started. Be nervous if you need to, but still do it anyway.

Favorite hype song before a game?

Be There Still by Davido.

Join the Prospect HQ Student Ambassador Program

If Eden's story resonated with you, there's a good chance you'd find a home in the Prospect HQ Student Ambassador Program. We built it for athletes who want more than a roster spot on their resume, athletes who are ready to start building the skills, the network, and the confidence that carry into whatever comes after sport.

As an Ambassador, you'll connect with student-athletes, like Eden, across the country who are navigating the same transition you are. You'll get hands-on experience in career development, content, and community building, with real mentorship from people invested in where you're headed. And you'll help shape something from the inside.

Whether your post-grad plan is locked in or still taking shape, this is a chance to figure it out alongside people who get it.
